ADHD Diagnosis & Support FAQs

An ADHD assessment typically includes a detailed intake, screening tools and questionnaires, a review of current symptoms and life impact, and a developmental history (including childhood patterns). The goal is to understand your attention and executive functioning profile and whether it fits ADHD or another explanation.

Yes. Many people aren’t diagnosed until adulthood—especially if they learned to mask symptoms, did well academically, or were overlooked due to anxiety, perfectionism, or ADHD stereotypes. A diagnosis can help make sense of lifelong patterns and guide effective supports.

ADHD, anxiety, and depression can overlap and also co-exist. ADHD is primarily related to attention regulation and executive functioning (planning, organization, follow-through, impulse control), while anxiety and depression are mood-based conditions. A good assessment looks at the whole picture to avoid misdiagnosis.

Support may include ADHD-informed counselling, skills and strategy building (routines, time management, planning systems), emotional regulation tools, self-compassion work, and help with school/work accommodations. Many people also benefit from understanding their strengths and reducing shame.

Our clinic assesses both youth and adults.
