Logotherapy
A well-known psychiatrist once remarked that Western humanity has turned from the priest to the doctor. Commonly, I see clients who are struggling with the meaning of their existence. This spiritual distress as I call it, can often be developed by turning to a religion or at least studying one. Consider that each person lives in three domains: somatic, mental and spiritual. The spiritual dimension is often ignored because we live in a world where the focus is on material goods and looks and things by which can be directly attained or accomplished. There is a whole realm of existence beyond these material goods and it is something that we are meant to explore. Consider this:
Our conscious mind plays a huge role in how we perceive reality, however, fewer people are in tune with their spiritual connection or intuitive side. This intuitive side many report as our connection to source energy or God and often can be what guides us or pulls us in one direction or another. For some this can manifest as a gut instinct or feeling, as for others it may appear to them in life through a sequence of synchronicity or coincidental patterns. While psychotherapy seeks to bring instinctual facts to consciousness, Logotherapy on the other hand, seeks to bring awareness to spiritual realities.
